United States DST 2026
DST runs from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November. These rules were set by the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and have applied since 2007.
Spring Forward - March 8
- 2:00 AM becomes 3:00 AM
- Lose one hour of sleep
- EST to EDT, CST to CDT, MST to MDT, PST to PDT
Fall Back - November 1
- 2:00 AM becomes 1:00 AM
- Gain one hour of sleep
- EDT to EST, CDT to CST, MDT to MST, PDT to PST
Exceptions: Arizona (except the Navajo Nation) and Hawaii, plus American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

European Union and UK DST 2026
Under EU Directive 2000/84/EC, summer time runs from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October. Every member state changes at the same moment, 01:00 UTC. The UK is not in the EU but uses the same dates and the same moment.
Spring Forward - March 29
- CET countries (e.g. France, Germany): 2:00 AM becomes 3:00 AM
- EET countries (e.g. Finland, Greece): 3:00 AM becomes 4:00 AM
- UK and Portugal: 1:00 AM becomes 2:00 AM
- CET to CEST, EET to EEST, WET to WEST, GMT to BST
Fall Back - October 25
- CET countries: 3:00 AM becomes 2:00 AM
- UK: 2:00 AM BST becomes 1:00 AM GMT
- One week before the US falls back (November 1)

Other Countries DST Schedule 2026
Canada
Same dates as the US, where clocks still change:
- March 8 (Spring)
- November 1 (Fall)
Big change in 2026: British Columbia (UTC-7), Alberta (UTC-6), the Northwest Territories (UTC-6) and Manitoba (UTC-5) sprang forward on March 8 and will not fall back on November 1. Saskatchewan and Yukon already stay on one time all year. Most of Ontario, Quebec and Nunavut, plus the Atlantic provinces and Newfoundland and Labrador, still change their clocks.
Australia
Opposite seasons:
- April 5 (DST ended, 3 AM became 2 AM)
- October 4 (DST starts, 2 AM becomes 3 AM)
NSW, VIC, TAS, SA and ACT only. Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory do not change.

Whole country:

Brazil
Abolished DST in 2019
Brazil's last clock change was in February 2019. Brasília time stays at UTC-3 all year.

In 2027 the US and Canada spring forward two weeks before Europe (March 14 vs March 28). In autumn the gap is one week (October 31 vs November 7). During those weeks New York is 4 hours behind London instead of 5.
Frequently Asked Questions
When is the next clock change?
New Zealand already moved forward on September 27, 2026. Next up: New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and the ACT move forward on October 4, 2026. The UK and EU move back on October 25, 2026. The US and the Canadian provinces that still change move back on November 1, 2026.
Why do DST dates differ between US and Europe?
They are set by different laws. In the US, the Energy Policy Act of 2005 set DST from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November, starting in 2007. In the EU, Directive 2000/84/EC sets summer time from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October. See our conversion tables for complete time zone reference.
Will DST end in Europe?
Not yet. The European Commission proposed ending seasonal clock changes in 2018, and the European Parliament backed the idea on 26 March 2019. EU governments in the Council have not agreed, so the proposal is stalled. After a Parliament debate in October 2025, the Commission decided to carry out a further study. Until a new law passes, the clocks keep changing every March and October.
